Wolves on the Moor - Forsaken Weekender 2007

The Uratha gathered in a pub, the Royal Standard in to make tentative plans for invading Dartmoor. A war leader was proclaimed; this was Richard Rhodes (Blood Talon, Irraka). The problem was that Bale Hounds had stolen the Arncott Klaive, which is used to open one of five gates protecting a mighty, and dangerously corrupt, fetish known as the Eye of Chaos. This was not something that we wanted the Bale Hounds to have possession of!
There were some discussions as to whether or not to kill Bale Hounds, even though they do not see themselves as People it is arguable whether or not they are. It was decided that it comes down to every individual’s conscience.
As the first gate was left open by the bale Hounds, the group was able to walk straight in. We had all the other four blades in our possession, there was one blade for each of the auspices. Each blade was attuned to a fetish lock, leading deeper into the Hisil, through a series of places-that-are-not.
The war party advanced and came through several traps to get into a strange otherworldly village. They stopped at its centre, in front of a great doorway – the second lock – and by a great Shadow-work the Bale Hounds were using to go past the doorway. The group also discovered an academic, a missing university professor of ancient runes and language, along with evidence that several people had been sacrificed. There were some children left alive, who we rescued, along with a pair of captured werewolves. Some of the People wanted to kill the children there and then as they had seen too much, but this was a minority view, and so they were safeguarded.
Camp was made in that village, a strange habitation within a Place That Is Not; it was only in the Hisil and had no corresponding place in the material world. In the morning a War Totem was called, which after much negotiation agreed to grant us assistance in our quest to recover the Eye. At that point the White Hunt of Dartmoor was born – its goal to drive the SparrowClaw Circle from the moors.
During the rest of the day the other four gates were gradually opened, and challenges faced, but by far the most dangerous was the Ithaeur gate. The set up was that of a Neilson hut during WWII in the Blitz, with two very nice old ladies telling us to go away so they could enjoy their tea in peace! The Ithaeur tried to bid it but were unable to do so, and during this time ‘bombs’ were dropping burned deeply, as if they were built of silver!
After two of these some of the People were very unsteady on their feet, so Iron Claw (Blood Talon, Rahu) stepped forward and intimidated the old ladies to bugger off! He was quite surprised when that worked and the gate opened. But for the first time in decades they had survived the bomb blast.
Meanwhile the Bale Hounds had gathered a mighty army outside the gates, far too many for us to beat in open combat. Their leader held the Anrcottt Klaive, under the watchful eye of Scott (Hunter in Darkness, Rahu) who had Vanished! He waited for his moment, saw it, swiped the Klaive and ran with it back to the gate as fast as he could. He just made it and got the door locked with the Klaive which he handed it to the war leader. After some consideration it was handed to Wall of Stone’s Sister Alex (Storm Lord, Elodoth).
The final gate was opened and the final guardian was found, an old member of the Lodge of Garm. After establishing that they had the same aims, he agreed to help the People escape in a grand ritual which took huge quantities of Essence and the sacrifice of several powerful fetishes, transporting the group from a place-that-is-not whose doorway was in Cornwall to Scotland. The Eye of Chaos was safe, for now.
