The Illuminated Professor of the Unfettered Mind; Court of Sparks

Mankind has been fascinated with electricity. Since the writings of Thales of Miletus, during the 6th century BC, has mankind marvelled at the effect and power of electricity. But it was not until Benjamin Franklin's famous experiment that the common man became aware of the possibilities that electricity could bring him.

During the late 19th century, mankind saw the development of the electrical current and the light bulb, and with that, the imagination of millions of people turned toward a bright future. The writers of the Victorian era churned out stories of impossible scientific experiments, of the wonder of Science! Such authors showed people the possibility of life after death, of invisibility, and other fantastic transformations.

It was during the era of fertile belief and imagination that the Illuminated Professor was born. Beginning as a lowly spirit of imagination, it soon clawed his way to the top of the food chain by consuming other imagination and technology gafflings. When asked about its activities, it always spoke of “improving himself” and “trying to understand others.”

In modern day, he spends his time anywhere that new technology is being developed, or new ideas are brought into being. One of its favourite place to linger is the Science Museum in South Kensington. It especially likes it when children come for field trips, as their imaginations are fertile and can be so creative. It enjoys roaming through the museum's Hisil, which is filled with strange reflections of the machines that sizzle and crackle with electricity.

The Illuminated Professor has been a long standing member of the Court of Sparks. It commands the allegiance of several greater gafflings of electricity and technology. The Iron Master's have been known to come to him to ask for help with interesting projects or to get some insight into the Court of Sparks. Most of the other Uratha are somewhat wary of “Dr. Screwloose” and his experimentations.

Description: The Illuminated Professor looks like a slightly hunched human, dressed in a dirty laboratory coat and black pants. His skin is pale, and stitched with copper wiring in distorted patterns. Instead of eyes, it has several lenses which rotate in and out of place as it focus near or far. Pale gray hair, like metal wiring, stands out from his head, and now and then electricity arcs between the strands.
