Gathering of the Storm; IRC Storm Lord tribal event 2007

The following is a message which will be sent to any members of the Frobisher line - though should be just to Storm Lords any none Iminir of the line will get it too (please get in touch with me if you would like your character to be linked with this family). It will also be sent to any other Storm Lord characters who John Frobisher, or his family/the Guardians of Man can get in touch with. You are free to assume that you can get this message if you so wish, though non-Storm Lord characters will ~not~ be welcomed at the gather (if anyone knows or finds out!) - and if you would like to discuss backstory/links with the Guardians of Man/Isle of Man please again be in touch. Please also pass this on to other Storm Lord players - and feel free to pass it out IC too. The gather will be the first of a series of global-aimed IRC games which are designed to encourage tribal roleplay and identity without forcing anything from the higher-level STs. Any queries please get in touch with me.

Inivitation to the Isle of Man

Children of the Winter Wolf, Skolis-Ur, listen to my words.

In years past, before the People warred on themselves in the Americas in a struggle so fierce that it spread around the globe and brought many to face brother with bared fang, it was common for the Iminir to gather and talk of affairs when the omens were right. The Lords of the Storm would gather in pack and lodge, meet in council in places of tradition – high places, desolate places, places where the journey is a test such as we set for ourselves each day.

I am no Dreamer, but I know of the omens in birds flight, in smoke and in bones, and the omens in blood which is the strongest of all. I have heard the summer birds leave the Shadows and seen elementals of ice and cold dancing on the wind.

I am no Irraka to hunt and scheme through the world of flesh for titbits of knowledge, but I have seen the rains and the cold come after months of calm. I am of the Flesh-world and of the race of man, and know of the weather. The winter that comes will be hard.

All know that when storms rage and lash, when winds press hard and lightening crashes, when the tempest strikes and blizzard covers the earth, with squalls at sea and gales on land that it is the time of Skolis-Ur. When the winds are at their highest and the rain has the force to break bones we hear his howl. When the ice-storms cover all we feel his presence, and when the weather can get no worse we know to gather.

Other tribes gather when the ice is less harsh, and when winter is memory. For those who have Winter Wolf as patron the winter is the time to come together and talk of affairs, not in our territories and protectorates and ranges, but as a Tribe.

The island of Man is a small place, but long has it been a place honoured by the Iminir. Snaefell, the Snow Hill, has for centuries been a place for Ungin. In February I shall travel there, for that is when the winter should be most fierce. For any with wit enough to secure their territories, courage enough to leave their packs, daring enough to risk the seas with the Breathstealer loose, with the strength to climb the long hill and the fortitude to endure the worst of the winter I call on you to gather with me.

A time of testing, and a time of Tribe. We gather as has happened so many times in years past to talk of affairs and trade knowledge. Those who wish to join the great pillars of the storm might find opportunity to do so. Those who wish to know more of rite and ritual may find teachers. Those who would know of the heroes and battles of the past may find talesingers.

The Guardians of Man, and the great spirit Mannan, hold the lands to be safe and secure – but the Iminir are ever welcome on the shores.

I charge you to join me.

John Frobisher
Guardian of Man, of the line of Foesbiter
