Seepingdark; the Stealer of Breath; Court of Smog
The Seepingdark is an ancient and malevolent spirit, never a friend to humanity but always instead a predator. None know where it was born, even it does not know this any more, but certainly it was amongst the spirits who first brought the Court of Smog into existence. It took power from the smoke which filled the skies of the midlands and industrial north, spending most of its time in the physical world and taking its essence from the humans beneath it rather than harvesting it in the Hisil.
Soon it moved southerly, never spending too long in one place to avoid the attentions of the Uratha till it found its own hunter’s haven – London. The thick, rolling fog of the Victorian age, the pea soupers that would conceal rape, murder and worse – in some cases this was Seepingdark, urging humans to commit acts of primal urge to provide itself with a plentiful supply of essence. From London its near certain that Seepingdark spent time in Wales and Cornwall, lurking in the deep dark places in mines to creep into the lungs of miners and steal their lives to feed and grow stronger. It’s likely that some of those ramblers lost on Dartmoor, or on the misty Yorkshire Moors, were victims of the Seepingdark.
