He was the leader of the pack that Huntress of Time was a member of. He survived Huntress' death and the binding of the spirit, he was latter killed trying to solve a major dispute between two courts that was threatening the spiritual landscape of the area. His death did lead to a resolution though and his sacrifice was honoured.

Tale of Maelstrom's Teeth

Death need not be worthless, there can be a purpose in it that transcends the moment and cause of death and transform it into something greater than anyone can even imagine. This is a tale of one such death, that was seen as being worthless by some but came to be recognised as the sacrifice that was necessary at the time.

This is the tale of Maelstrom's Teeth. Elodath of the Iminir. A noble Uratha and a respected speaker for pack and tribe. For many years he served his pack well and held the Oath high above all else as any good Uratha should. His words were considere wise by all and he advised many packs and others in his long years.

Maelstrom's Teeth led his pack well and they followed him through fire and storm. Though he had lost a good Rahu some years before fighting a spirit that the Pure had leashed on them, the pack were still pretty strong and held the respect or fear of many of the traditional enemies of the Forsaken who lived in that area.

As word of his wisdom and honour spread across the lands of flesh and the world of spirit so then was he held esteem by even his enemies and so it was that he came at last to his greatest challenge. The deed for which he is most honoured now and the reason his name will live on down the ages.

For time immemorial the Courts of Predators had been a powerful one, fierce with pride and fury. Yet it was this pride and fury that brought it into conflict with the Court of Cogs. No one remembers the cause of the dispute for the ways of the Spirits are alien and nonsensical to those not of the Hisil. For years their dispute raged across the Border marches as each Court sought to exert dominance over the other. This naturally brought them both into conflict with the Tribes of the Moon as the spirits used mortals as pawns in their conflicts.

Maelstrom's Teeth saw this conflict and in his wisdom saw the damage to the flesh that it caused, he also recognised that whilst the Tribes of the Moon could try and prevent the overspill from the Hisil they could not bring an end to the conflict through tooth and claw. The cause of the dispute would have to be resolved with words and agreement.

So it was then that Maelstrom's Teeth took up once more his staff and entered the Shadow to bring wisdom to chaos. He quested hard in the days that followed and travelled far until he had found his way to the ears of both the Court of Predators and the Court of Cogs and heard from each the causes of the dispute. He bargained and he cajoled with these spirits, using their own natures against them to force them to listen to him. He traded and he
persuaded until finally he was able to bring the leaders of each Court to stand before him and take part in his rite to end the dispute.

No one knows what happened next. Some say that the Predators turns on Maelstrom whilst others say that Cogs were the ones that betrayed the truce of Maelstrom. Other's still blame the Bale Hounds or the Pure for attacking at the crucial moment. All that is known to us now is that Maelstrom's Teeth was slain and his body delivered back to his territory where his pack set him to rest with high honours. They feared that his death had been pointless, that his attempts to bring peace to the spirit and flesh had caused him to only gain the contempt of the Predators and the Cogs. They wept that his wisdom had been lost so cheaply and that his skilled words would never be heard again.

Then the People noticed that the Courts had stopped their warring on each other. When the Tribes of the Moon called forth spirits of each Court and asked them when they had stopped all they would say was "We honour the sacrifice of Maelstrom's Teeth." they would say no more. With his death he brought peace. An exchange he felt both honourable and wise and so should we.
