The Isle of Wight
There have never really been many of the People on the Isle of Wight, those few who have come from there to the mainland have known nothing of their history - Ghost Wolves who for some reason have have rarely joined a tribe, and to who the few Azlu in Great Britain seem to attack on sight for reasons unknown.
What is known by the few Uratha to have visited is that the bones of old creatures lie in the cliffs in the Other of the Isle of Wight, and that the Needles more resemble great jagged teeth than rocks. Some suggest that this was made from the bodies of great creatures - dinosaurs and sea monsters - possessed or claimed by spirits, or with a spiritual side themselves. Others think it a great graveyard for such - and that this explains the unusual geography of the Shadow. Still others, Boneshadows mainly, suggest in hushed tones its a great larder.
One thing is certain - for every werewolf who visits and returns there are several who are never heard of again. For the people of Southern England the Isle of Wight is a pleasant, if unexciting, holiday spot. For the People it is deadly and mysterious.
Fossils
(from Shadows of the UK, page 50)One of the larger groups of Azlu in Britain hides today on the tiny, quiet Isle of Wight. These Azlu are well organized, fierce and well hidden. They’re guarding something by the cliffs.
Phoenix, a mage belonging to the Pygmalian Society, claimed some five years ago to have stumbled across a beach grotto not far from Newport containing more Azlu than most British Uratha will ever see in their lives. The Spider Hosts were, however, quiet and did not behave in a threatening manner. Her hasty retreat was caused by the rasping voices that began to speak in her head, coming from the things the Azlu seemed to be guarding: three objects, which looked, for all the world, like the fossilized exoskeletons of enormous spiders. To those very few who have heard of them, these are the Wight Spiders.
