Heavenly Destroyer; Court of Sparks; Court of Teeth

In mid 1934 the Air Ministry released its requirement for an eight-gunned fighter to replace all the other fighters in service. It would reach over 275 mph and have an excellent rate of climb. The pilot would be seated in an enclosed cockpit which would house radio equipment and an oxygen supply that would enable the aircraft to fly at amazing heights. On the 4th August 1938, only one year before the Second World War, the first production Mk I Spitfire, K9789, was delivered to 19 Sqn Royal Air Force at Duxford. Within twelve days the second aircraft was delivered and by May 1939 the squadron had a full compliment of sixteen Spitfires and was fully operational.

Common myth holds that the Heavenly Destroyer was born during the Battle of Britain, and thousands prayed for the airmen who fought high above the skies of Britain to fend the Luftwaffe off for just one more night, one more day. Those prayers and hopes and dreams birthed a vengeful spirit already powerful. Part of the reason for the success of the RAF can perhaps be put down not to great machines, dedicated crew or skilled pilots, but to an angel of death stalking the Hisil for its favoured foe – enemy aircraft.

In the years since then the Heavenly Destroyer has become, if anything, stronger and more aggressive. Anything in the skies of the Shadow which does not belong to its side (in this case the Descant of Air Walkers, in the Choir of Vehicles, allied with or part of the Court of Sparks) is its prey, and its nature is now more that of a powerful hunter than of an aircraft.

There are many who deny the Heavenly Destroyer being a part of the Court of Sparks pointing to its hunting inclination and aggressive demeanor as marking it a part of the Court of Teeth.
