This court formed at some time in the late 1600s to early 1700s (no one is really sure, and time means nothing to most spirits) but really came to power in the end of the 18th Century as the Industrial Revolution really ran into full swing, providing plenty of Essence and birthing more and more spirits – by 1800 it was perhaps the most powerful Spirit Court in the country.
As Industry moved more and more away from Britain this court died a slow death, whilst still powerful it is no longer the all powerful entity it was in 1850 at the height of its might. The two World Wars provided a brief resurrection during the earlier part of the 20th Century but the closure of factories and plants throughout the 70’s and 80’s, and the continued trend to have major manufacturing done overseas, has continued the trend of its decline.
Some believe that the Miners Strike was the result of some elements of the Court of Cogs trying to hold onto their power – something that the Tribes of the Moon were forced to deal harshly with.
