Legends of the People
Brightaxe
- Tribe: Blood Talon
- Lodge: Garmir
- Auspice: Rahu
- Pack: Wolves of Steel (his pack); Band of Thunder/Brotherhood of Thunder/Kingdom of Storms (the alliance of packs of which he was a part)
Brightaxe was so named for the mighty axe which he would wield with one hand in the near-man form, holding a mighty shield in the other. The axe was said to have been a family weapon of great history - several times though legend a mighty axe has appeared which some historians believe is his.
He along with his pack, the Wolves of Steel, are said to have had a fastness in Tingatel where their made their lair. It is claimed that the Wolves of Steel refused either to leave or surrender to their foe when the Pure came to drive them out and instead fought past strength for many hours till finally they were overcame. It is said that Condolden Barrow by Tintagel is the final resting place of Brightaxe and the Wolves of Steel, either buried by their brothers of the Fellowship of Thunder, or by the Pure wolves who slew them in honour of their final stand.
Battle with Tooth-killer
This is the most important story of the character, or at least the bare outline of it, and should be something which reflects their tribe and/or auspice. This should be something which allows players to gather the basic outline of the tale allowing it to be remembered and told IC, that details will be different from telling to telling does not matter these tales are remembered and told in the oral tradition and often the pure truth is simply not known.
- Hero/Villain: Brightaxe is the protagonist, the antagonist is a Predator King named Zahnmörder (Tooth-killer)
- Setting: Within the Kingdom of Storms, atop a ridge where the Band of Thunder had chosen to meet the invading army of Eisherz; the Iceheart. Brightaxe as Thunder Warrior and champion of Budic fought the champion of the invaders.
- Events: Brightaxe called insult on the Pure until a champion came forth to meet him. Zahnmörder (Tooth-killer) was a massive dire-wolf wearing a crude collar of bronze giving him a mane of long, curved canine teeth and with the broken skulls of a dozen fallen werewolves hanging from it. They fought for a while neither able to gain a clear advantage till Brightaxe’ warform and fetish-axe smashed the bone carapace growing from Zahnmörder’s sides, the blood flowing freely from both till both armies watching grew silent. Zahnmörder fell with lungs bared to the sky as Brightaxe howled the pain of an arm torn from the shoulder. Both withdrew and took no further part in the battle.
- Moral: Victory does not have to be to the death (Rahu). A battle fought before the eyes of allies and enemies can say much without need for words (Blood Talon).
End of the Wolves of Steel
This is the most important story of the character, or at least the bare outline of it, and should be something which reflects their tribe and/or auspice. This should be something which allows players to gather the basic outline of the tale allowing it to be remembered and told IC, that details will be different from telling to telling does not matter these tales are remembered and told in the oral tradition and often the pure truth is simply not known.
- Hero/Villain: Brightaxe and the Wolves of Steel are the protagonists, the antagonist is an unknown group of Pure.
- Setting: Tintagel where the Wolves of Steel made their final stand, and Condolden Barrow where they were laid to rest for eternity.
- Events: When a large warband of Fire-touched threatened what remained of the Kingdom of Storms the now near crippled Brightaxe lead the Wolves of Steel and the remaining Brotherhood of Thunder against them. In three clashes they emerged victorious but were not able to stop them from reaching the walls of Tintagel. After a short siege the walls were stormed - though they were tired and wounded the remaining members of the Wolves of Steel refused to surrender and fought to the death rather than risk capture and torture. Afterwards tales vary on if the barrow of Condolden was raised over them by others of the Brotherhood of Thunder, or by their enemies as a mark of respect.
- Moral: It is better to die in service to the People than surrender to an enemy without honour (Rahu). Battle is a not a thing to turn from, even if it costs your life (Blood Talon).
