The Book of Broods

Excepts from the scripture of the Beshilu.

---

"They shall know fear, for when the Beshilu Thisrah is manifest, then shall the Izidakh burn. Then shall the Mennina be hunted. Then shall the Farsil Luhal be mastered. Then shall the Ninna Farakh be brought low. Then shall the Suthar Anzuth bleed. Then shall the Iminir be wrecked. Then shall the Tzuumfin be torn and then shall the Hirfathra Hissu be consumed. All shall perish amid Fire and Chaos and the Rat will reign supreme over what remains."

---

"In the beginning, King Rat existed in the Void. It was empty with no tunnels and no food. So King Rat gnawed through the Void, creating the first tunnels. What Rat King dug up became Pangaea, and from it grew food. Then King Rat rested and saw that what he had created was good. So, he created the People to inhabit the world, in his image."

---

"One day King Rat appeared to all his People and asked them to give him offerings since he had made the world. Grandmother Spinner brought him smooth and beautiful silk. Father Wolf brought him bloody prey, fresh from the hunt. Beshilu Thisrah brought him the fruits of cultivation. Naga Snake brought him shiny and unique scales. Soaring Falcon brought him the wild and fresh wind from the heights. Many others besides brought their offerings.

King Rat looked at what had been brought and proclaimed that Beshilu Thisrah had brought the best offering. But Father Wolf waxed wroth. In his Rage he attacked and killed Beshilu Thisrah, hiding the body and taking the offering as his own. King Rat was wise though, and knew what had happened. "Father Wolf you are cursed! Neither you nor your descendants will be able to control your rage." King Rat also took Beshilu Thisrah's body and split it into many parts. Each part was spread throughout the world, but knowing that one day, when all the splinters are returned together, Beshilu thisrah will live again."

---

In those days the Preacher of Plague went among their number, spreading King Rat's goodwill and contagion. Once, when he had come to a nest in a small village, so many of the people had come to lisen to him that they could not all fit into the building. There was one amongst the listeners who was accursed. While a fragment of Thisrah's spirit was lodged within his physical body he had yet to display the physical attributes of his condition. In fact, no infection or disease could take root in his body, let alone infect others. Wanting to speak to the Preacher, but unable to get through the press of bodies of all size, he climbed down and started to burrow his way through the ground beneath his feet. Finally he burst out of the ground in the centre of the nest, right beside the Preacher of Plague. "Come up out of there," said the Preacher, "and lie yourself down for, know this, your faith has made you ill."

---

The Plague King's rule shall be like this. In one place there were three nests, all serving Beshilu Thisrah. All of them were gifted with a locus by their master. The first nest sent out its members, forever hiding, but searching for essence wherever they went, then bringing them back and adding to the size of the locus they had been given. The second nest sent out its members as well but this time more openly, taking essence and loci from the spiders, snakes, spirits and wolves. Many were hurt or even killed but they added to the size of the locus they had been given. The third nest took their locus and burrowed deep in the earth with it. They hid away from the other nests, spirits, hunters and all else. They kept the locus exactly as it had been given to them. On the day that Beshilu Thisrah came and visited them he saw that the first nest had increased their locus and he was pleased. He saw that the second nest had increased the locus greatly and was mightily pleased. Finally, he visited the third nest. They showed him the locus and explained how they had been afraid to risk any of it and that here it was, exactly as it had been given to them. And Beshiluh Thisrah looked at it and said, "Fools! This was given to you so that you could increase my power and you have wasted it. Take this locus from them and give it to the second nest for know this, these that have much shall be given more, and those that have little will have even that taken away, so that they end up with nothing."
